Week 13 & 14

Wow folks, the rain continues here in Iowa. We have had record rain throughout the state, rivers continue to fluctuate up and down and flooding is still a concern. On top of that we have had some nice clear days that have heat indexes well over 100 degrees. Feast or famine folks.

However despite the tough conditions one of our anglers managed to get out and wet a line. I've been out myself a couple of times, and have had some success. The fish are not jumping on the lures but they are willing to bite with the right presentation. My young son and future angling master, hooked into a very nice 10.5 inch bluegill. We took some pics and let the bugger go so it could grow even bigger.

We are down to the final six weeks of our tournament. I want to welcome the new anglers that have recently signed up and encourage you to get out there and fish. A single entry for the day could qualify you for the $500 Scheels shopping spree AND the all expense paid trip to Canada should your entries remain at the top for the week.

Yup, the fishing is still going to be a bit tough, but you know what, that's why we call it fishing and not catching...this is a great time to get out there and test your skills. What affect is all this rain really having? What are the fish doing? And more significantly, what can I do to trigger a fish to bite? It a challenge, yet a rewarding one when it results in fish in your live well.

I for one will be out tomorrow testing my skills to see if I can't figure out where the fish are and whether or not I can entice one to take my offering. There is still plenty of time to enter your fish, challenge a buddy to enter the tournament and see who is the better angler. Look forward to seeing you all out on the water!! TIGHT LINES ALL!!
